Proper browser configuration ensures MobyMax runs smoothly without interruptions. Follow these steps to create the perfect learning environment for your child.

Step 1: Install Google Chrome

If you don't have Chrome installed, download it from the official source:

Step 2: Make Chrome Your Default Browser

Windows Users:

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click the three dots menu (⋮) in the top right
  3. Select Settings
  4. Click Default browser in the left menu
  5. Click Make default

Mac Users:

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Click General
  3. Find "Default web browser"
  4. Select Google Chrome from the dropdown

Step 3: Install Adblock Plus

🛡️ Why Adblock Plus?

MobyMax is an educational platform, but the internet is full of distracting advertisements. Adblock Plus ensures your child stays focused on learning by:

  • Blocking pop-up advertisements
  • Removing distracting banner ads
  • Preventing accidental clicks on ads
  • Creating a cleaner, faster browsing experience

Installation Steps:

  1. In Chrome, search for "Adblock Plus Chrome"
  2. Click the first result from the Chrome Web Store
  3. Click "Add to Chrome"
  4. Click "Add extension" when prompted

Configure Adblock Plus:

  1. Click the Adblock Plus icon in your browser toolbar
  2. Click the gear icon (⚙️) for Options
  3. Under "Free Features", tick ALL checkboxes ✓
  4. IMPORTANT: Untick "Show Acceptable Ads"

Step 4: Configure MobyMax Site Settings

MobyMax uses advanced features that require specific permissions:

  • JavaScript: Powers interactive lessons and real-time feedback
  • Pop-ups: Allows progress reports and certificates to open
  • Insecure content: Some educational resources use older protocols

Configuration Steps:

  1. Navigate to www.mobymax.com
  2. Click the icon to the left of the URL (🔒 or ⓘ)
  3. Click "Site settings"
  4. Configure the following permissions:
    JavaScript → Allow
    Pop-ups and redirects → Allow
    Insecure content → Allow
    All other settings → Leave as default

Step 5: Create Desktop Shortcuts

Make it easy for your child to access MobyMax with a desktop shortcut:

  1. Navigate to www.mobymax.com/MC56839 (our school code)
  2. Click the three dots menu (⋮) in Chrome
  3. Select More tools → Create shortcut
  4. Name it with your child's name (e.g., "Sarah's MobyMax")
  5. Check "Open as window" for a cleaner experience
  6. Click Create

✅ You're Ready to Go!

Final Checklist:

  • ✓ Chrome is installed and set as default browser
  • ✓ Adblock Plus is installed and configured
  • ✓ MobyMax site permissions are set correctly
  • ✓ Desktop shortcut created with school code
